Hi,

I am new to these forums and was wondering if anybody here has gone to or is currently attending the PA school in Nashville, TN? If so, how do you like it? Is it a good school.

The other thing is, I am 42 years old and have decided to change my career. I am a database programmer but having dealt with my own health issues I am interested in working in the health field. It would be May 2010 before I could start the PA school and it takes 27 months. I would be 45 by the time I can start, assuming I get accepted. Am I crazy to start this late?

Thanks,
Kristina

Are you talking about Trevecca? I have two sisters who graduated their PA program. I know that they both regret the huge student loans they accumulated, and that if they could do it again they would have pursued public schools. Both sisters are religious, which was a big factor in their school choice. Both were only in Tennessee to go to school, and came back to the west coast, so they got no local benefit from mentoring, networking etc. There's nothing wrong with the education they got.

As far as doing this "at your age," that's not a very good reason to hesitate. There are a bunch of us here who are starting medical school in our 40's. I readily admit that it would be much quicker, cheaper and infinitely more practical for me to do PA instead of med school (it's just not the job I want). If you want to be a PA, go be a PA.

Best of luck to you.

Thank you both for your replies.
Yes, there are some pre-requisites for PA school but I could knock those out this year and beginning of next.
And yes, I am talking about Trevecca. I wouldn't mind going to a public school but was unaware that there is another PA school in Nashville, TN. Unfortunately I cannot relocate.

just a point of order....
pa=physician assistant not physician's assistant.
the 's is an automatic rejection to any pa program you apply to if you use it in an essay or interview....
