If a child has congenital pyloric stenosis. What would be the blood levels of Chloride, Potassium, Sodium, and pH after a vomiting episode? Thanks for your help.

theoretically.....vomiting

decreased H+/Cl- --> metabolic alkalosis (inc pH)
decreased K+--> moves into cells (h+ production increases to restore the balance (HCO3- increases also) so K+ moves into the cells to maintain homeostasis).

hope this sounds right

looks like another tool, why dont you join idi on the toolmen list. Your lame ass reads this forum enough to know that people are getting 68 percents on Qbank and worrying about step 1 etc and you are going to post your 84 percent and be dumb about it. The fags on thnis board are just out of control

Kluver, i am not smart either but i do get a kick out of your post titles, sorry no idea about your question.

Remember this basic rule...potassium and hydrogen are best buddies. They can't go anywhere without each other. Vomiting is loss of acid (alkalosis) so you're losing hydrogen ions. With loss of hydrogen you get loss of potassium (hypokalemia). The acid is actually hydrochloric acid so you'll also get chloride ion loss. This potassium and hydrogen concept will save you so many times.
