PI letter

I first had taken a lecture chemistry class (p-chem) with a professor (and received a grade for it of course). After the class, I joined their lab and worked for them for about 2 years. Would this count as a science letter of rec? I am particulary concerned that the PI didn't mention the intial class in the letter and don't want to get auto-rejected for not satisfying the requirement.

Unless the school has specifications outside of the norm, it's a chemistry professor writing for you with science as the main connection you share with them. It's a science letter.

But as a reminder, you should check each school to make sure you know exactly what their letter requirements are.
