For schools that request a photo of yourself for their application, would it be a better idea for me to have a sheet of pictures printed out at Walgreens? Or are they just looking for a picture you printed off your computer? I guess there's also the option of printing them yourself on nice photo paper... Thoughts?

And to ask a slightly more random question: staple the picture or glue?

I suggest a tasteful shot with maybe a feather boa or something lacy...possibly in sepia tones with muted lighting.

Oh, and if the MULTITUDE of options on how to send a picture is overwhelming, why not just pack yourself in one of the larger UPS boxes and have brown send you to your schools of choice? Guarantee you'll give them an accurate representation.

GREAT ideas 👍

I suggest something from halloween, perhaps a racy nurse costume... that should do the trick.

I think photos printed from Walgreens would be best. Computer printouts are a no-no, printing on nice photo paper would be ok I guess if you're in a fix for time.

Oh and I recommend double-sided tape or glue. Don't staple through your pretty picture.

Oh, the feather boa was never questioned. I was even going to spring for the wind machine package...do you think that should be enough to score an interview?

I was leaning toward getting printouts until my dad told me just print something off the computer. I thought maybe I had just read too much into what they wanted.

Okay, since you seem to have a genuine sense of humor (some of these pre-meds are so uppity) I would tell you picture quality has little bearing. All they want is a relatively accurate representation to make sure when you get an interview you don't send someone in your place (for the most part). Just send them a semi-professional picture on any media and you should be okay. As long as you don't do your secondaries in crayon, you're golden.

This is what I sent to all my schools that requested one. It was taken by my SO against a painted wall, then printed out on photo paper. I was rejected by all those schools.

Oh LifetimeDoc, you're such a handsome looking fellow 🙂

 You were not rejected because of your picture.

No crayon?! Oops! I thought it'd be okay since it was a black one.

🙂

I would try and grow out a mullet. It will let the ad coms know that you are all business with a hint of party animal.

woops, please disregard my last comment

i think we get points added or deducted based on appearance. scary looking doctors = scared patients. :scared:

I took a picture from a prom party we hosted at our house and cropped out my date and lower body and printed it (or attached in electronically for some secondaries like Creighton).

Little did THEY know that in the same picture I was holding a fifth in my hand 😀

I went to walgreens and got a set of passport photos. Then I went to Kinkos and made copies on a copier that printed photo quality on photo paper (actual photo quality and actual photo paper . . . couldn't tell the difference between the originals and the copies). This way the pictures both looked exactly like they should and I was able to mass produce them relatively inexpensively.

My thirteen-year-old daughter took a very nice picture of me with a digital camera; we uploaded it to the computer and printed out copies on photo paper. I put the pictures and application fee in an envelope and attached the envelope to the application with a paperclip. I wouldn't worry about it much...just take a nice photo and reproduce it on photo paper, and you'll be fine. In my picture, I was wearing a nice blazer and standing in front of some trees in city park...got the camera in close enough to do a head and shoulders shot, and we were done!

I'm just using regular computer paper since I don't have photo paper and I don't feel like wasting money to buy it. I honestly dont think it's a huge deal and it's not going to make or break you (at least I would think!). I'm assuming they want a photo so your interviewer knows what you look like.

I'm going to send them a picture of me grinning and flashing a thumbs-up sign.

Do a different one for each school. Get t-shirts made that say "I love [insert school name here]" and then do the smiling and thumbs up ala Mister Pie.

Seriously, I went to Walgreens. Upload it on your computer and then just order them as you need it. A sheet of 4 wallets is 99 cents.

I just took a picture of myself against a plain wall and printed it on my computer. I wore a nice shirt and tie, nothing special.

I am rarely photogenic so I found one of the best pics of myself (me in a racy dress for valentines day last year), cut out the bf, the short skirt and the low cut top. Leaving what looks like me in a red shirt. It turned out ok apparently.

I found one of few pics that has me wearing something other than a t-shirt. Put it on a CD and off to Walgreen's I went. I may be wrong but the pic is just used to put a face with a name.

You could be the ultimate douchebag and dress up like a doctor for both your pic and your interview.
