I was wondering what kind of picture to attach to secondaries that ask for it- should I just go get several copies of the little passport pictures...? What is everyone else using?

Do a search - I believe this topic came up recently in a couple different threads.

I just got a bunch of passport sized photos to use on my secondary applications, if asked for a picture. 😛

Digital photo, printout, and staple. Free or very close to it.

i was a theatre major so i just sent my headshot in wallet size. i was kind of afraid it might be too "hollywood" but it worked for me.

My mother seems to think that schools emphasize leadership and ATHLETICS (?!). (She's been reading all of my med school brochures).

Anyway, she suggested that I use a picture of myself rock climbing or in scuba gear (with my face fully visible, of course). Anyone think that this is a good idea, or should i just do the standard passport-photo thing?

I am using a standard passport 2 by 2 photo. dad took digital pic of me and took it to photo store on a disk and they made me a bunch of copies. it is just a head shot from basically shoulders up just like passport pics.

Priest - I'm wondering, you said that worked for you - are you already accepted somewhere? Did anybody mention in interviews that your pic seemed too Hollywood? I also have head shots I could use but I wasn't sure about it.

Basically they want a picture to help them remember who you are. When the ad com's are going over your application it is helpful to have a picture of the person they interviewed ... it helps to jog their memory better than just a name on the application. A head shot is fine, no need to get creative or fancy.

quid-

if you want to be THAT guy..... arrghh... adcoms are just going to pass your application around and laugh. be creative in your essay... i took a laid back set of pics of me in a polo shirt.... and that was really informal. i should have worn a shirt and a tie.

You guys are making me feel alot better about my little passport picture. I wore a white linen blouse (my favorite, so it made me feel really good). My hair was having a good day and I didn't have any weird breakouts or anything. My smile is a little crooked but as I look at other photos of me I think that that's just the way I smile.

The fact is it's me - and not such a bad pix. I think these passport pictures are good because they are sort of homogenizing, and yet our personalities can come thru a little bit.

So many schools say: passport picture, so I think that's what I'm going to use. Yesterday I went to CVS and the guy did up a sheet of 16 2x2's for like, 8.00 bucks. With the cost of these secondaries I just can't afford to go glamor girl with the pictures ... even tho I might want to.

I disagree with poloace, quid....as long as it's tastefully done, I think an action-type shot is fine. They will not pass your application around and laugh; the pic is just to help interviewers remember who you were. Do whatever you feel comfortable with; the picture WILL NOT make or break you.

We all know med schools only accept supermodels...

nobody said anything about it. i don't think it was too much a factor though. i just figured they would be more worried about gpa and mcat and extracurriculars and such. btw, i was interviewed at 4 schools and got into uc davis.
