Just finished the Pilot exam and have disagreement/confusion with the key. Please share your thought.

191. The deviation of the patient's mandible is MOST likely due to lack of function of which of the following muscles?
A. Left medial
B. Right medial
C. Masseter
D. Left lateral
E. Right lateral

I think it should be A instead of D

192. Monosynaptic jaw closing reflexes might be disrupted in which of the following areas?
A. Locus coenurus
B. Globus pallidus
C. Motor neucleus of V
D. Mesencephalic neucleus of V
E. Motor neucleus of VII

Can it also be D?

356. Each of the following condition predisposes a patient to develop cancer EXCEPT one. Which one?
A. Asbestosis
B. Anthracosis
C. Hep C
D. Gardner's syndrome
E. Ulcerative colitis

Can it also be D?

375. Which of the following prim teeth is likely to be mobile in this patient (10 yrs old) due to the eruption of the succedaneous tooth?
A. F
B. G
C. H
D. I
E. J

I used the eruption dates but could not figure out why it's only H.

399. If the patient and dentist elect to extract tooth 30, sectioning of the tooth will be required. The dentist should be aware of which of the following furcation on this tooth?
A. One
B. Two - mesial and distal
C. Two - facial and lingual
D. Three - mesial, distal and facial
E. Three - facial, mesial and lingual

Why not A?

Thank you for your time and participation.

it can be either d or E. Both are lateral muscles. I didnt know both of them have diff functions.

Its confusing as it can be either H or I. 1 st premolar erupt between 10-12yrs and canine 11-12yrs.

My understanding is that the medial can elevate the mandible. The lateral, if any, should be insignificant compared to the medial. What do you think?

Are you implying the tooth has TWO furcation? This tooth only has two roots. How can it have two furcations?

Thanks for the prompt reply. I saw too many repeats on this test. Not sure how the real one turns out.

Deviation doesn't mean elevation or depression. Acc to me, deviation is due to insignificant lateral movements. So thats why I picked lateral pterygoid. But still I don't know anything about right or left😕

399. mandibular molar are bifurcated ( that means splitting into 2 )

I read the question again. Although I still believe the massetter has much more effect, I agree with the key. It's the left pterygoid in this case. It's stated in the question that the left condyle is fractured. This is where the lateral pterygoid inserts to. Thanks for the reply. I have another question. Is left mesiotrusive movement the same as right laterotrusive movement?

You are right !mediotrusive is the movement of non working side (lateral movement).
