I thought it would be nice to start a thread where we can test eachother and talk about the material (instead of just asking eachother what book is good, because a lot of us learn better in group settings/testing eachother)...

So let it begin...

I agree with the HSV; also, def. do an HIV test and head CT - he may have toxoplasmosis or something else growing in there...

Yea...it was HSV; Rx with high dose IV acyclovir. The pt. did not have HIV, a CT was done too (findings where nonspecific - mild generalized edema) An MRI followed, but I never heard the results.
This was a real case I saw while shadowing in the ER (and was presented at ID rounds) - minus the skin lesion which the patient did not have.
