Hello!

I went shopping and bought a ladies pinstripe suit to wear to my interviews. Is that okay? I was thinking about what to wear underneath and I thought a nice v-neck white sweater or collared button down white shirt would do...would you suggest any other colors? I'm kinda tired of the blah look of just white and black.

I got a skirt and matching pants for the blazer incase I feel one is more appropriate than the other. Would wearing a skirt be better than pants?

Thanks for the help! 😀

This is a comment from a dude! I still think pinstripe is professional. I see a lot of professional ladies wearing pinstripe suits. As for me, I got a nice black suit because i want to look like Don Vito in the Godfather, and maybe a bit like james bond.

I think anything + - formal would be fine..
Personally, I love women in a skirt ( Black, tight and right above knees) with a blazer... 😀

In the professional world, women who don't know better wear pants. ...says all the interviewers in major business firms.

Now, dental might be a new ballgame, and people may get by with pants. But not in the big leagues of capitalist America.

You're over thinking it. I saw a few people at interviews that weren't even wearing jackets or blazers but just sweaters over their shirts.

If you look somewhat presentable, it won't really matter.

Back to the original question at hand....I went to some workshop about how to present yourself at an interview, and they said to avoid wearing pinstrips becauase: pinstripes = power. So in some people's minds if someone is wearing pinstrips that person might think they're in a higher position than them?

I have heard something along those lines, but I think your attitude in the interview will dictate alot. Once again, I LOVE pinstripe suits for men and women, but I'm not sure if I will wear one to interviews or not. I want to look like I'm hungry to get into dental schools, not like i've already made it! It's a difficult choice.

I believe a woman would have an easier time doing it. The whole alpha male thing! 🙂
