The Pitt Secondary just came online via email. Can anyone access the webpage in the link? It says its under construction.

I got it too, and also saw the problem with their webpage. Their website says they screen and given the time they took to get secondaries out, they were pretty slow about it.

hmm...i haven't gotten the secondary email yet either....let's hope I get one soon. For those who have gotten it, would you mind postng the essay questions here (with the word limits)?? That would be so helpful!!! Thanks!

I would if I could, but I can't. It's under construction, so there's nothing there. But I will as soon as it's possible.

premed2, let's hope that they are having difficulty with their system and that's why we didn't receive the secondary🙂 This would be the only school I was "screened out" from 🙁 Well it takes my mind off of waiting for interview invites for a while!

The question about moral/ethical dilemma is sorta weird, only because it removes the academic setting as an option for the response.

just out of curiosity, were those interview invites widespread, or does it actually mean something if they sent you one. i'm referring to the one from the dean asking to schedule an interview before our complete app is screened by their committee.

i got the secondary via email! i hope an interview invite arrived at my house 😕 so they give out interviews before receiving secondaries i guess?? congrats everyone!!

Pitt makes about 100 or so presecondary interview offers to outstanding students. Congratulations if you got one! That doesn't mean, however, that you can blow off the secondary question. Just make sure that when you write your secondary that you write about an ethical situation that you overcame appropriately. Good luck, and I hope to see many of you when you come here for interviews.

1. Describe a personal experience which resulted in a substantial moral or ethical dilemma. What
was the outcome? We are reluctant to accept assertions that you have never encountered such a
situation. Please do not address cheating in an academic setting.
(Limit your response to 250 words or less.)

second is:
The recruitment of a diverse student body is a major goal of the University of Pittsburgh's Medical School Admissions Committee. Please tell us whether facets of your life and education to date would contribute to the achievement of this goal. Such facets might include your early education, socioeconomic status, culture, race/ethnicity and work experience.
(Limit your response to 250 words or less.)

Ugh, that's school #4 that's asked that dilemma question, and I still have no idea how to approach it. Have any of you had any luck with this question? How can I go about thinking of an ethical or moral dilemma?

Princeton Reviews book says that they screen for secondaries. I've had no love, and so I tend to believe it.

You will have 3 interviews: student, faculty, dean.

The student and faculty interviews are the main interviews, and the one with the dean is an exit interview. You will have the usual presentations on financial aid, the curriculum, grading criteria, etc. at various points throughout the day. You'll take a tour of the school, and have lunch in the hospital cafeteria with fourth year students. I had the best interview experience at Pitt, and liked it better in most respects than any other school I visited. It is an extremelly student friendly environment, is highly regarded academically and clinically, and the city is vastly under rated. The only thing that sucks is that you won't know if you are accepted, rejected, or waitlisted until March. If you do get accepted, try and go to 2nd look weekend. It is a blast. The only thing more fun is orientation week (bars, amusement park, whitewater rafting, picnics, games, movies, dinners, ballgames, more). Every day I appreciate more and more how lucky I am to be here.

Well, i'll tell ya... i have a 3.85 and a 33, and there was no happy pre-secondary invite for me... i'm guessing these are people in the 35+ range.... *sigh*

i did not have a 35+ MCAT and got the interview invitation ... i think there was more to it then that. Maybe they actually read through the AMCAS application since they took so long to get back to us?

Guys, we don't need to beat ourselves up because we didn't get one of the special invites. 100 invites out of about 8000 apps. is pretty slim chances. There's no need to try to figure out why someone got picked over someone else. Just concentrate on that secondary.

is anyone else having problems with the secondary link? it's now 7:30am eastern time on tues morn and when i click on the link in the email it says "page cannot be displayed". perhaps the link they sent me is wrong, so maybe someone could send me what they've been using. or maybe the page is acting funky?

Thanks. After careful inspection, there was a period at the end of my link. That's why it didn't work! Doh!

BTW, you guys need to add your dates to the interview thread. So we can see if we've got the same. Looks like this will be my first interview.

I haven't been able to access the supplemental online application since Tuesday. I sent an email to them yesterday telling them of the problem, but no reply yet. Just keep trying I guess!
