Pitt makes about 100 or so presecondary interview offers to outstanding students. Congratulations if you got one! That doesn't mean, however, that you can blow off the secondary question. Just make sure that when you write your secondary that you write about an ethical situation that you overcame appropriately. Good luck, and I hope to see many of you when you come here for interviews.

FYI:jas2346 I was able to complete the Pitt Secondary this evening... I think it was simply server load... so many of us were waiting for this bad boy.... anyway g'luck all

i can only think of unsubstantial moral dilemnas...
(oh and a lot related to cheating.. ha ha.. like friends pushing you to join in cheating, or wanting to cheat off you).

like.. at an ER do you take a patient up to the the OB area, even though it's outside what you're allowed to do (but you're perfectley capable of doing it, and the help could be very much appreciated).

or.. your friend (who is like 11) tells you he's been smoking. do you tell his parents?

what makes a moral dilemna anyway (this is probably a stupid question, but it may help in thinking).

Just a suggestion.. .think ab out things that happened in your extra activities or research. Thing is when i think of these, I end up with many situations where i got other people through moral dilemnas.. not ones I personally faced. Anything unethical published in lab?

I'm surprised this hasn't been mentioned yet, but did anybody notice that the second question on the pitt secondary is optional. It's about how we would contribute to a diverse student body.

First of all, is anybody actually going to leave this blank? And secondly, what does a white, upper-middle-class guy from the suburbs say here?

I got one of the pre-seconday invites too. So how good are our chances? Is the interview somewhat of a formality, or is the selection process the same but just in a different order?

A couple of things :
1) The second q is indeed optional - ie, they accept people who don't answer it. I didn't answer it - I don't think that an answer to that question actually says anything about what you will really bring to the class. Then again, I didn't turn in my secondary until a month after my interview, so I don't know if they even looked at it.
2) Pre-secondary interviews are not just a formality - take it seriously. You get scored on your interviews, and if you don't score well on either interview, you probably won't get in, unless you have a molecule or disease named after you or something like that.

i've been waiting for my credit card payment to go through for about 15 minutes now. stopped and tried it again 3 times.
anyone else have problems with pitt's credit card payment page?

Yeah, it's not working at all for me...it won't go through and I've tried it a couple times and just left it for about an hour and it still didn't go through....

Maybe I'll try again tomorrow?

i was thinking the same thing, except now when i try to access the application it says it has been processed and automatically logs me out.
guess they have my application. hope they got my $ too.

You'll probably have to send a check via snail-mail. The credit card option didn't work for me last week. I called the admissions office, and they told me to send a check.

But definitely check your credit card expenses online to make sure that nothing was transacted. Once you send money in, it's hard to get it back!! 😱
