hey guys,
I got accepted into VCU back in December and i already paid the deposit and all. But yesterday i got accepted into PITT and i am confused now ! I liked both school so i don't know which one to pick. I am from California so i ll be considered non-resident for both schools. I don't know if i want to specialize but i would like to have the option.
Does anyone know :
- about the patient pool in both pitt and vcu (which has a larger patient pool , just to ensure that all the requirements can be met to graduate)
- which school is better in preparing its students clinically-wise so that a GPR residency won't be needed.
- which school better prepares for the board and to specialize.

You definitely need a GPR out of Pitt. The patient pool isn't all that great. Your class rank matters when it comes to specializing and Pitt seems to be attracting a lot of gunners lol. Not sure about VCU

Pitt is probably the better school. Academically, Pitt is much stronger. They will teach you everything the best way to prepare for the boards. VCU does not teach to the boards, they have their own curriculum, the students on the tour there said for some subjects (biochem et al) it's just a scramble to share the board study books. I didn't like their "We do it our own way" attitude. Clinically, Pitt has some problems but it is not a bad school by any means. Also, for four years of your life, do NOT get stuck in Richmond. That place has some upside but Pittsburgh is just so much of a better place!

I do not think either school has a bad clinical program. Remember, each of these schools is a state school in a smaller city. They probably have similar advertising resources/ patient pools.
