This is for everyone invited to the University of Pittsburgh interview on December 13th!

So what hotels are you guys staying at? Want to meet up? Nervous? Excited? Any strategies going in? Expecting a casual interview? One of those crazy what's the square root of 7,482 interviews? BLAH!

I went to Pitt for interview already. very casual. the interviewer just wants to get to know you. They don't have your transcript or DAT scores so no explanation to do if there's any. i stayed in Hampton Inn for around 100 bucks the hotel was nice. There's shuttle every hour to take you to the dental school building.

Absolutely. I was asked about stuff I covered in my PS as well as IN MY LORs. They read those before the interview and would take notes. The interview is scheduled 30 minutes max per person (mine went overtime and got called off by the arrival of the next interviewee). but yea it is very casual you shouldn't have to worry about being put on the spot.

Some questions are very specific based on what you put on your application/PS as well as what your professors wrote on the LORs. For example, I was asked of very specific questions about specializing in the future because I included in my PS, and I was told that one of my LORs mentioned that as well. There are some general questions like why I want to pursue dentistry, what is the most difficult time of my life, what do I think is the most challenging part of dental school, have I experienced any difficult ethical dilemma, what is my favorite book, what do I like to do for fun. I asked a lot of questions back 'cause I was personally very interested in her background, so it took me a long time to talk to my interviewer, but yea make sure you ask some questions back so it makes them feel that you're engaging as well and that you're genuinely interested. also it takes away their focus on you so it makes it that much less unnerving for you.

Um at my interview my interviewer hadn't read anything in my file and was flipping through it while picking out stuff to ask me.

Good to hear. They told us how much time the Dec. 1 admits have to send their deposits but I can't really remember. Hopefully it will be soon though because Pitt was pretty cool.
