Hey I am looking for some advice in regarding to which school I should attend.
I have been accepted to both University of Pittsburgh and UB. Both school sounds amazing and I can't make up my mind. I would like to make up my soon, so I'm not holding a spot for the respective school.
I am from AZ, so I'll be an out-of-student for both states, so it doesn't really matter what state I end up going to.
Please help me decide =)

did u compare the costs? type of area (good or bad)? any close relatives (knowing u have family somewhere)?

Pittsburgh has a better basketball team.

wow arizona to buffalo or even pittsburgh will be quite a shock. get ready for seemingly endless winters and snow storms. UB is a great school, I don't know much about Pittsburgh but I'm sure its a great school as well. Personally I would chose UB but I'm a little biased. Good luck and congrats!🙂

I've been at UB for the past 6 years, and just got accepted to Pittsburgh today, so I'll share my thoughts on both schools:

I really loved Pittsburgh when I went to visit. I feel like the city is what Buffalo should be like. It's a big city yet still feels cozy. A lot to do, beautiful scenery. I really liked the school as well. It's a big research institution, there is a hospital right on campus which is amazing, and out-of-state tuition isn't too bad. I think right around 20k? Housing isn't too expensive, and the school has a great reputation. Also, what I really liked is that the pharmacy school is its own entity, right next to the dental school. You don't mix with undergrads.

I've lived in Buffalo for about..17 years now, it's basically where I grew up. Coming from Arizona, unless you like snow and cold, it's going to be a HUGE change for you. We have about 6 months of winter and cold (today is about 30 degrees outside), and the city is kind of..dead. UB is also a research institution, so if you're interested in doing research it would be a good way to go. The pharmacy is housed in Cooke Hall, and you mix with a lot of undergrads. As a matter of fact, there will be many undergrads in a lot of your classes. Class sizes are not small -- some can get as big as 400 people, so you have to make an effort to be noticed by professors. I'm not sure about out-of-state tuition, but I know it's not terrible and it's pretty easy to get residency after about a year of living here. In-state tuition is really cheap -- I think about 13k? However I do know that tuition will be going up next year.

So...all in all, the decision lies within you. I like both schools, but I like the city of Pittsburgh better (maybe it's because the grass is always greener..). But Buffalo is where my family is and where my life is and it is where I intend to raise my own family -- so for me it would be a no-brainer 🙂

Let me know if you have any questions. These are important decisions so you want to be as well informed as possible.
GOOD LUCK 🙂

thanks for the info
Good luck with your interview with UB, hope you get in 🙂

I still haven't made up mind between these two schools....
They both sound amazing, but I would like to decide ASAP so I can open up a spot for whichever school I decide not to attend.

It seems like a lot of people talk about UB on SDN, but no one ever talks about Pitt, anyone know why Pitt isn't discussed???

It's probably because Pittsburgh doesn't accept a whole lot of transfer students. That tends to be the trend on here so don't go with which ever school is discussed more but with which school and the program you liked the best.

I've worked with grads from both schools...and from the description of their programs and rotations, I think Pitt has a marginally better program. Marginally. However, you'd have to go to Pitt...which, unfortunately, makes you the scum of the Earth. Pittsburgh is a way better city, too. Buffalo is just depressing.

hahahaha  thank you. I keep leaning towards Pitt, but I just can't make up my mind and go in one direction.
- soon to be the newest scum of the Earth.

Not much diff in rankings. I vote Pitt. Seems like a better place to live.

When do you have to decide by?
