I've been at UB for the past 6 years, and just got accepted to Pittsburgh today, so I'll share my thoughts on both schools:
I really loved Pittsburgh when I went to visit. I feel like the city is what Buffalo should be like. It's a big city yet still feels cozy. A lot to do, beautiful scenery. I really liked the school as well. It's a big research institution, there is a hospital right on campus which is amazing, and out-of-state tuition isn't too bad. I think right around 20k? Housing isn't too expensive, and the school has a great reputation. Also, what I really liked is that the pharmacy school is its own entity, right next to the dental school. You don't mix with undergrads.
I've lived in Buffalo for about..17 years now, it's basically where I grew up. Coming from Arizona, unless you like snow and cold, it's going to be a HUGE change for you. We have about 6 months of winter and cold (today is about 30 degrees outside), and the city is kind of..dead. UB is also a research institution, so if you're interested in doing research it would be a good way to go. The pharmacy is housed in Cooke Hall, and you mix with a lot of undergrads. As a matter of fact, there will be many undergrads in a lot of your classes. Class sizes are not small -- some can get as big as 400 people, so you have to make an effort to be noticed by professors. I'm not sure about out-of-state tuition, but I know it's not terrible and it's pretty easy to get residency after about a year of living here. In-state tuition is really cheap -- I think about 13k? However I do know that tuition will be going up next year.
So...all in all, the decision lies within you. I like both schools, but I like the city of Pittsburgh better (maybe it's because the grass is always greener..). But Buffalo is where my family is and where my life is and it is where I intend to raise my own family -- so for me it would be a no-brainer 🙂
Let me know if you have any questions. These are important decisions so you want to be as well informed as possible.
GOOD LUCK 🙂
