If application cycles open June 1st and I take my DAT in the last few days of May, will there be a problem? I figure I'm having my DAT scores sent to schools (I think this happens as soon as I finish the test) and I'll self report the scores on ADA before sending them off to the schools. Is there any risk to taking the test end of May?

Thanks

Taking the DAT at the end of May is fine and even a little early, the majority of people actually take the test in August. I'd recommend June/July so you have a bit of time dedicated solely to studying for the DAT and still be early. What is most important is to take the test when you're ready, don't rush yourself to take it if you aren't ready.

Also, after you take the DAT, it'll take a week or two before the scores are transferred to AADSAS and sent out to all the schools. It'll also take a few weeks for them to process and approve your application, which is why it's important to apply early and get all of that taken care of so all the schools need is your DAT score.

Super112, you have a great plan..But as I always I remind my students, should your test day draw near and you are not 100 percent prepared there is no shame in rescheduling. The number 1 error I see students make is rushing to take the test. Focus on destroying the DAT!

But if you are ready, go for it! And be sure to share your scores and experience with the SDN community.

Wishing you the very best in your studies and on the DAT!
