How should I answer if I don't have anything completely lined up yet? I've just recently submitted an application to work as a caretaker for the elderly at a senior living facility--which I am really compassionate about since a lot of my extracurricular and volunteering experience is taking care of seniors.

What I don't want happening is if I don't get the job that I've applied to and I end up settling somewhere else and during the interviews, they ask me about it and I end up telling them, "Oh, you know, I didn't go that way."

Thanks!

Also in the same boat! Would love for an answer to this.

As for now, I'm just going to list it as trying to find a job (with some specific ones I've applied to recently), and continuing volunteering. I mean, that is my plan for the gap year.

I'm sure it won't be a problem if they brought it up in an interview and you didn't get it. Just be able to show what else you've been doing with your time!

Say the bolded above. They may not ask you during your interview about specifically this activity. The question I've gotten most about my gap year were usually open ended (what are you doing or have been doing until medical school?)

Say what you want to do, why you want to do it, and your goals for that activity. It'll show that you've thought through about this gap year if you show that you're mindful of your goals and expectations.
