Plastic Surgery for fighters

It appears that several well known mma fighters who are prone to getting cut easily in fights, are turning to plastic surgeons to solve the problem. New York times has a very interesting article. I've heard about this in the past but I have'nt read anything about it until now, i wondered what you guys thought about it? Is this anything new?
