For all who've finished their applications and those soon to be done with them, what do you plan to do now while you wait for calls from your schools?
How are you planning to pass the time?
It really does seem to drag on now that the time-consuming hard work is over!

There are plenty of things I plan on doing to keep myself busy:
I can check my e-mail one billion times a day
I can check my snail mail the moment the mail lady pulls it out of the bag
I can jump every single time my cell phone rings
...and then for the moments when I'm not doing any of those things, I can plan the next email/snail mail/phone check.

Just kidding 🙂 While I already check my e-mail a lot (should be hearing from one school soon-ish), I try to keep busy cleaning as my place turned into a sty once finals started and apps needed to go out. This one won't last for long, but Christmas shopping helps because it's fun and I get out of the house so I'm less inclined to think/worry about apps. I also plan on going out on some of the fun trails nearby and seeing what 5Ks are coming up 🙂

Other than that...I rotate between feeling confident and thinking that there will be sound rejections.

In just about 5-6 weeks, the letters and e-mails and calls will be coming out! Eeek! Can we just fast forward to late January? Pleeeease? 🙂

It's called BEER... Try some, the time will go faster. 😉

Seriously the wait is the worst part, especially when you get no interviews and it's mid-feb, and that feeling of hopelessness starts to loom heavily. Hopefully you all won't get to experience that part of it!

Probably not much different from what I am already doing. Continue in my practice and read as much research as I can get my hands on. I just purchased the APA's publication manual and am excited to peruse it.

I have a handful of snowboarding trips planned. I plan to hit the snow hard.

last year I spent waaaay too much time on this site checking to see when other people had heard back from the same schools I'd applied to. It made things worse. Once your admissions have been sent out and you've made sure all of your schools have received everything, try to do stuff that keeps you away from email. I wish I'd spent less time obsessing and more time doing other stuff. And I'm pretty sure that my non-stop email checking had nothing to do with getting accepted! 😉

Right now I'm spending my time finishing up some essays (before today, I had 3 down, 11 to go. Right now I have 4 down, soon to be 5) but also sort of incorporating Markp's advice by enjoying a nice glass of red wine 😀 I'm also entertaining myself with the ten typos one of my POIs put into one e-mail. Six sentences, at least ten typos (and that's only counting words that are not spelled correctly). Perhaps I need to rethink this one...

I realised that seemingly unbeknownst to me, I'd been continuing my amazon.com addiction and had actually bought a bunch of books that I hadn't had time to read yet! So I'm spending my time catching up on reading 🙂

oh didn't notice that down there. thanks!

During my wait time I am compiling a pro's and con's list for all the schools. Therefore, I will be prepared to make the decision of which one to choose when that time comes. Thinking about choosing is hitting me hard now. But, by preparing a list now, the choice will be less stressfull when it comes decision time in March.

I'm also going to prep applications for the subsequent year, just in case.

This is what i'm going to do this afternoon:

1. Take a nap in my hammock
2. Read a book in my hammock
3. Watch a movie
4. Sleep

I've been up for 27ish hours, and I won't get home until 4-5pm, so I may just do 1. 😀

Not that I'm close to done yet, but I'm gong to spend all my time after this working my second job an-extra-lot to pay off the expenses I'm racking up doing this process. My life is full of glamour. 🙄 The worst part is that I'm looking forward to it in comparison to the process itself.

For the record....I pretty much went right to bed. I considered my hammock, but I tossed a bottle of wine in the fridge to cool, but the next thing I knew I woke up and it was the next day....whoops!

 I love that you drink wine. I never let a nice muscat be absent from my fridge door.

I <3 wine. I've been really good about not buying more lately...but I have 50ish bottles right now, and I don't want to have to move 50+ bottles so I need to start drinking them! I have probably 8-10 'hold' wines...but the rest are at risk.

I'll be playing a lot of Wii, teaching myself SQL, and getting some packing done for my upcoming move.

Granted, the move is in late July, but my stuff isn't going to pack itself! 😀

SQL...for the love of god, WHY?!! It is actually really helpful to learn, especially the data architecture stuff....it helps you really visualize how everything should be organized. I never learned the nitty-gritty programming stuff (that was for the smart people who worked for me), but the architecture stuff was invaluable.
