Okay, first of all thank you for reading this thread. It is the first time i use this forum and hopefully it will help. So thank you!

So i am about to graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. I have taken all pre requisites needed for DPT program, as well as about 200+ volunteer hours in physical therapy, as well as other hours in other settings. But i am really worried about my cGPA because it is alittle below 3.0. I really have a passion for PT and i do not want a gpa to take me down.

Any answers are greatly appreciated. 🙂

Not really sure what your question is, assuming its if your cGPA is below a 3.0 do you have a shot- if thats the question unfortunately in most cases its a no go. Is your final 60 credits above a 3.0 because there are some schools that only look at that...but if not then unfortunately you're going to have to get it above a 3.0 or else your application will not be looked at regardless of how great the rest of your application is.

Also what are your grades in the pre-recs? If these are low grades (you wants A's mostly and possibly a few B's in here if at all possible) you may want to consider re-taking ( which will help GPA as well..hopefully)

When you do apply to DPT programs PLEASE look at the minimum requirements for each program you are applying and to and make sure you meet them, the schools receive a tremendous amount of applications so anything less than the minimums don't even get looked at.

Thank you so much for answering me. My gpa for the last 60 credits its about 3.8, without considering the gpa for this semester. The pre requisites i have A except for 2 that i got C in. So it would be better to apply to a school that looks at the last 60 credits, even with a low cGPA?

Many schools require a cGPA to be above a 3.0. Do NOT apply to any of those schools with your current grades as generally you will get automatically rejected. It sounds like you have a better chance at a school that looks at the last 60 credit hours....but find those schools and start researching their minimum GPAs and how they calculate as each school may be different.

Another option is to try and retake 1 or both of the pre reqs you got a C in this summer before applying. You could also spend a year retaking classes and taking more classes to get your cGPA higher and then apply next round (this road would be beneficial if you think you can get in a substantially cheaper school next year by improving your GPA....and I argue be able to work this year while you improve your GPA).
