anyone at all...I would appreciate some input!!

Is there a specific reason for these programs? They are fairly spread out, and if geography is not an issue, there are a lot of other programs to consider. Do you have an idea of what you are looking for in a fellowship/ career? There is a lot of variability between Epilepsy programs, so it helps to know what your goals and priorities are.

Sorry if I was not clear
I am shortening my list
I am mainly looking at the midwest and southwest
Vanderbilt I guess does not fit that bill
I am looking at solid program with good volume including surgical epilepsy pts and some research

I am looking career wise at doing mainly epilepsy in a private setting with academic affiliation

If you're looking for programs with the goal of a private practice with potential academic affiliation, you have a lot of options. The mains goals will be to have a program with a good amount of EEG and epilepsy patients, along with a stable faculty and happy fellows. All the programs you listed are fairly small.

I don't have personal experience with the specific programs, but here are some thoughts.
UofA is a small department, but David Labiner is heavily involved in the epilepsy community and would likely be a great person to learn from.
UAB is looking for a new division head (from what I understand). That could make your fellowship experience unpredictable, depending what's going on when you get there.
U Minn is going to be more research based. There are 2 private epilepsy groups that see more patients in the Twin Cities, and Mayo's not far away.
Colorado may be the biggest program. They have some fantastic people on both the adult and peds side. My impression is that many people start in residency and stay all the way through faculty positions.

Other programs to consider could be UCLA (3 different tracks, Cedars or Nuwer's program may better fit what you're looking for), Mayo Scottsdale, Emory, Mayo Rochester, Rush, Cleveland Clinic. It works to just start contacting program directors and expressing interest.

Hope this helps.

That is very helpful....
Any thoughts on the Michigan programs?
Thanks again for the input....

I don't know too much about Michigan. Henry Chugani is at Wayne State and does a lot of cutting edge work with nuclear imaging in epilepsy, but he's primarily pediatrics. You should also look into University of Michigan.

UAB already has a new Epilepsy division head. It's Dr. Jerzy Szaflarski who came from Cincinnati
