Hello,
I had a question about applying to medical schools. Do I have to have all my prereqs done prior to applying or prior to matriculating? I am a senior and plan on taking physics 2 and orgo lab in my second semester, not this semester. Will this prevent me from apply to certain schools.
I think UNECOM in the DO CIB stated that it will send a secondary to those who have their prereqs completed? Am i reading this wrong? Any help would be greatly appreciated...I am somewhat freaking out.
My application was just verified and ive taken my mcats.
Thankyou

I think for the most part you need to have the pre-req's completed prior to matriculating. UNECOM sent me a secondary even though I didn't have Biochem. The admissions director told me that as long as I completed it before next fall I would be OK if accepted.

Yes, you can apply without all of your pre-requisites completed. However, some students find it difficult to take the MCAT without these courses. UNECOM is one school in particular that is funny about not having pre-reqs done ahead of time or has been at least historically. Some schools might ask you what the deal is, but as long as you tell them it's planned coursework, you should be fine.

So do you think I wont even receive a secondary from them bc I plan on taking physics 2 and orgo lab in my last semester? It seems from their website and the DO CIB that they wouldn't send a secondary unless you had completed the pre reqs before applying. I have Biochem done as well as many other higher level courses such as developmental bio, cell bio, microbio, human metabolism and disease, ect.

Just give them a call. They have a pretty quick turnaround.

Pre-Requisites are vastly overrated. All you have to do is show med-schools that you are the man. Through your MCat score, you're interview, and your physique.

You need to go to the gym.
