Hello everyone,

I would love to hear experienced applicants' opinions on my version of the LOR question.

Because I am applying to so many schools, there is a very wide variation of criteria my LOR's, sent to AADSAS, will need to fulfill. I am trying to find the best way to navigate and accomodate these requirements.

For example:

I have the basics for what MOST schools are asking: 2 science profs, 1 non-sci prof, and 2 dentists.

Pacific says to send NO MORE than 5 letters total.

My advisor, who sends all the letters in one package with her own cover letter, says she will also not send any more than five LOR's to AADSAS on my behalf. Okay, no problem; what I have already will work for my adviser and Pacific.

However, here's where it gets tricky: Columbia wants 3 sci prof LOR's, which would bump up my current package to 6 letters. So, this would statisfy Columbia but would piss off Pacific and my advisor.

Hmm...how can I satisfy each school's requirement and my advisor's rules while sending in enough LOR's to be competitive? I could get 7 letters like so many other people on SDN, I just don't know how I could send 'em all to AADSAS without a) bugging my adviser and B) annoying a few of the schools on my list that put a ceiling on the number of LOR's they are willing to read. Should I mix and match the letters-- send five with AADSAS and then send more to some schools directly? What have you guys done to get around this problem? Thanks guys!
