1. Extension/Interuption in medical school....well, I had to take off a month of rotations to re-study for Step I...but I am still graduating on time..is this an interuption?

2. I did some modeling in medical school, and won some pageants in college, one was a national pageant..should I include this?

3. Membership in Honorary/Proff Society..does this just include EMRA, AMA, ACEM, or also Honorary stuff in medical school, like Eugene Mayer Honor Society?

4. The retransmission of transcript...i failed Step I the first time around, so Step 2 will be important, should I just go ahead and click 'yes' since they will want to know? I dont have my score back yet!!

Thanks so much...please, any advice?

1. I do'nt think so.

2. You should include this only if you post a picture of yourself here.

3. Put it.

4. S'up to you. If I remember correctly, you didn't score a stellar score for Step 1. Go for broke. Remmeber that the board score is just part of your application. Hopefully the rest of yoru application will make up for it (I'm sure it will).

EM is competitive, but if you apply to enough programs, you should be able to get a spot somewhere (maybe not your top choice pre-interview, but a spot nonetheless).

1. This is NOT an interruption. I assume you had "personal time" to use as you are graduating on time - what you do on your vacation is up to you...

4. DO NOT AUTOMATICALLY RESEND YOUR USMLE TRANSCRIPTS! Wait, see your grade first, then resend (you will have that option). You will want time to "deal with it [the score]" even if it rocks (which it will 😎 ). Schools are not informed of your decision to hold or send, so why send automatically?

To quote the ERAS website
"If unsure, check no. If, after you have seen your new score, you want it transmitted after all, you can do it yourself. You will need to go to MyDocuments and click on "Retransmit USMLE Transcript".
Please be aware that only you can re-transmit your transcript. Nobody can do that for you."

It is that easy to send it later, without any penalty, (neither financial nor in the application process), so why do it automatically...?

BTW - all jokes and picture requests aside, I would only list the modeling or contests if they were a source of income, or held sgnificant esteem (e.g., Miss America).

Just my $0.02 (actual cash value $0.005)
