I wrote a similar post but I'm not getting any responses about this particular part of my dilemma. I'm deciding between two schools I like, but the one in a new city for me also has a new curriculum. Has anyone ever been in the first class to go through a new curriculum? Did you regret it? If a school ends up messing up the pre-clinical years, does it actually affect your Step 1 performance as long as you study a lot on your own during the protected time?

I haven't actually gone through a curriculum change yet, but I will be attending a school that is changing the curriculum with my class. I'm not worried about it because the school is well established and has a great reputation, and they are proceeding with this curriculum change in order to facilitate the best learning possible for the changing field of medicine. So I feel confident that they know what they're doing and the school name and reputation stands for itself.

A curriculum change should really be a concern for you if you know it is moving in a direction that you know doesn't fit your learning style or if there are other concerns other than just the fact that it is a change. Things are always changing.
