Hello, I am a second time applicant. 31 mcat, 3.85 gpa
I do not want to be a third time applicant. I want to take the right steps this year. I am leaning towards applying ED to my state university. I felt last year I failed to make all my attributes stand out.

I have made a list of meaningful ECs. Can someone tell me if each should be listed individually on my work & activity page, shoud I group some of them (like clubs i held leadership, or research experiences), or delete some?

1) Traveling Tennis Club - practice 4 days/week, plus matches throughout the country
2) Fundraising Chair of Comm. Serv Org. during its 1st year in existence, not yet chartered or funded at the time, so my role was critical to fund projects
3) The LeaderShape Institute - Leadership Camp
4) University Cultural Program - very esteemed at my school and very selective to get into, students are taken to places throughout the country to meet with scholars, see plays & musicals, visit historical sites, etc just to "broaden the mind/education"
5) Treasurer of the Genetics & Biochemistry Club - fundraisers, account manager, took care of financial matters for trips to NIH, local labs, etc
6) Summer Research Myocardial Glucose Utilitization (Diabetes related research) + Presentation
7) Summer ICU Volunteer
8) Summer Operating Room Shadowing - Scrubbed in to the OR, side by side with surgeons
9) 2 years Microbial Biochem Research - obtained student grant for research, poster presentation, honors thesis
10) International Medical Mission Trip - Great experience
11) Supplemental Instructor - Undergraduate Chemistry
12) Teacher Cadet - student-teacher taught 6th grade math class
13) Phi Beta Kappa
14) Three jobs (cashier type stuff) on and off throughout college, I was just going to group them together

I wouldn't be as concerned as how to group together some of those ECs as I would to find out why I didn't get in the first time around. You've got a great GPA and pretty good MCAT, what sort of places did you apply to? Was is that you just applied to to few schools too late?

I would also highly recommend getting in touch with some of the schools you initially did not get into and see if they can give you some advice or at least tell what they saw as a weak spot on your application.

So I'd say deal with those questions first. If you need to consolidate the list a little bit you could put some of leadership positions together like you mentioned. Other than that it looks fairly "well-rounded", I forget how many entry spots AMCAS or AACOMAS gives you or how many entries most ADCOMS see as being "normal".

Don't do early decision as a second-time applicant. It will hold back your ability to apply broadly and early.

I don't see anything remarkable in those EC's, so list them however you want.

BTW, I can't help without more info. What state do you live in? Have you improved your MCAT since the first time? They usually like to see that stuff in re-applicants.

You make yourself stand out by posting numbers. That's pretty much the long and short of it unless you are talking about the top 20-30 schools in the country.
