hey guys after 3 days passed from my test i decided to work on my reading and make it better and take my test for 3rd time 🙁 but i need help of all of you to tell me what can i do to make it much better in 90 days that left i got 14 on reading but i have total science of 21 , my last question is can i apply for schools with this second test and tell them i will retake it in end of jun to make the reading better if yes how should i inform them about my date of test ,

for those who does not know my scores : my scores are pat 18 total science 21 and math 14 and reading 14 and AA :18 science gpa :4.00 and total gpa :3.93

oh ishhhhhh!!! you have a 4.0 science! thats sick. your gpas are super good. now u need to work on your DAT a bit more. Your total science is good and even your PAT is prettty good
so the only thing that looks kinda ugly is your qr (but who cares, maybe get this up 1 to 2 more points IF you can) and your reading comp like you said. i do believe theres a way to tell schools youre retaking your test, Im not sure how so maybe someone else will be able to answer that

as for preparing for reading comp, you need to read everyday. or at least you need to read as often as you can. Read various articles in any science related magazine/journal. read new york times health/science related articles and read them as MUCH AS YOU CAN!!!! and learn to read faster/quicker/get the points. I think this would benefit you more than doing a "practice test" from topscore or something.
bc reading these articles often will basically teach you how you need to be reading for your DAT.

Hey shareshab, I'd be glad to help you any way I can. I read your earlier posts and it sounds like you really want this. Add that to the fact that you're smart (otherwise you wouldnt have such a high gpa or have done so well in the science/PAT on the DAT) and I know you can definitely improve those RC and QR scores.

Have you checked out http://www.newscientist.com/

I remember seeing it in someones breakdown (sorry cant remember who) and they said it really helped them on the RC. Scientific journals are good too but as I'm sure youve noticed the reading passages on the DAT arent quite the same as research articles. They're kind of in between research and your everyday newspaper article. Thats why molar3's suggestion of the new york times health/science articles is a very good one too.

Also, for the QR definitely check out Khans academy if you haven't already. I'll try to think of more stuff and I'll let you know if I come up with anything.

Okay for me I had to calm myself for this section...even when I prepared I would freak out for this section n I would let my nerves get the best of me. Don't let this section intimidate u. Start off by reading material that someone suggested on this thread earlier. Next work on crack dat reading. For the first few don't time urself. Read the passage and grasp the concepts and answer the questions...then understand how n what ur doing wrong n take the next test after a day. Start timing urself and increase ur reading speed.


Also here is the way I did it. I read the first question then start reading the passage. If I don't find it I move onto the next question n continue reading. I found that by doing this I answer all search n destroy answers first then once I'm done Reading the whole passage I understand the tone and inference ones as well. Also give urself 20 mins per passage (to read n answer questions) ...try it n see how it goes. I went from a 16 to a 24. It's not that u don't knw how to read, obviously u do...just have faith n don't let this section scare u...u can do it! Goodluck 🙂
