i don't know weather this is the right place to ask my question😕... but let me try....first of all..let me explain my situation.i want to pursue my ms(pharmacology or pharmaceutics) in US (fall 2010). i'm from India.i don't have any friends there and even my branch counselor is unable to guide me.
this is my profile

my questions are....
1)are there any universities accepting my score...i searched a lot in various universities website but they say minimum requirement is 1100.. but my branch counselor says 920 is enough..and getting admission depends upon the number of applications received....if they are less, then low scores can also be accepted.. is it true??
2)my branch counselor advised me to select ms chemistry option instead of ms pharmacy .. he told that later on we can shift to the course we like.. and we are doing this because it's easy to get admission in this way...is it true??? can i change it easily or should i write any exam for that??
3)can a good toefl score say 100 compensate low gre verbal score??
please help me... i'm highly frustrated with these questions....😕

I like your attitude! Sorry I can't answer any of your questions though. Good luck to you!

First of all you're on a pharmacy forum for people pursuing a doctor of pharmacy degree so they can be practicing pharmacists, not MS chem or MS pharmacology.

Second no one knows "what your chances are" because: 1) you're not applying to the same programs as us and 2) you're an international student with a very different academic background from ours.

Who you need to talk to is the college(s) you wish to apply to. Call or email the University directly. You don't need friends in the U.S. to help you find this information it is readily available by calling the University.

What career are you trying to pursue? If you want to be a pharmacist then you want a Doctor of Pharmacy degree and need to take the PCAT. If you want a research type MS degree then you need the GRE.

Good Luck👍👍👍

What country are you from and why do you want to study pharmacology in the US? What is your career goal?

Hi Adroit -
I remember GRE as a 3 section test with Verbal, Quantitative, and Analytical? It has been 7-8 years since I took it, so perhaps they might have changed the test format.

I once talked to the dean of the engineering school when I was in college, and he told me that GRE is not the heavy weight determinant factor in admission. You can be admitted with lower GRE score as long as you excel in something else (e.g. research project, personal achievement, recommendation...etc). However, when it comes down to scholarship, it carries a huge weight.

If you feel you are in the grey zone, I suggest taking a good GRE prep class, and spend few months studying hardcore. My college roommate got 1300 the 1st time, and got 2200 the 2nd time. (this was back when the score was out of 2400)

Hope it helps and good luck!

thank you atticus27... you are right i doesn't need to know anyone in US. i have sent mails to professors........ hope they will reply...
