Hi All!

I know this may sound strange but I am a Canadian Citizen currently studying outside of Canada in grade 11....I want to complete my Medical Degree of M.D in this country and then go to U.S.A for specialization in either neuro surgery or cardio surgery I want to know the requirements of USMLE and what are CLINICAL ROTATIONS? and do I have to do ALL of them in U.S.A? 😕 When do we do them?😕 Also, how long does it take to get a residency in U.S.A? and do I, being a Canadian Citizen require any Visa or anything like the B-1, J-1 or the H-1B? Also will I get paid during my residency? 😉 How long does it take to get a Residency? What Basically is A RESIDENCY? can you not operate until you have one?

Thankyou for taking your time to read this please give me accurate information! 🙂

You may find more helpful, thoughtful answers if you re-post this in the "high school" section of this forum. This subforum is full of students who are prepping FOR the USMLE, which means a bunch of stressed beyond belief students coming here to let off some steam. Probably not going to be the best sources of information for you.

I agree with this!

I second this. Everyone on here is probably going to think your a nutjob:idea:

Go finish High school first. Its a long process to becoming a doctor.😏

You should probably start calling residency program directors in Neurosurgery and ask your questions directly. Be sure to explain exactly what you have said here.

However, wait about 8 years to start making the calls. LOL

I especially LOVED the part with a wink after 'do i get paid during residency' and the of course he rightly wants to know if u essentially need to be a DOCTOR before you can cut people open.

I think we need posts like these 😛 they let us vent.
