Please Help! Ridgeback and ACP! (acepromazine)
The vet sent me home with acepromazine ACP for my Rhodesian Ridgeback so she would not be so upset to go to her vet appt.
Within 7 min. of giving her the medication she became paralyzed,(unable to move or stand), with her eyes rolling back in head and going to the bathroom on herself.
Now 8 hours later after being observed by the vet all day, she is still out of it, wobbly, her eyes messed up, etc.
I read on the internet that "sighthounds" which Ridgebacks are, should not be given ACP.
This was a heartbreaking terrifying experience for both of us.
SHOULD THE VET HAVE KNOWN BETTER?
I thought it was strange the vet did not charge me for all day observation and care at his office.
Thank you!
