I will try to make this as short and compact as I can. I know that I am running behind on adding some schools to apply OOS now! So I will list info below and what makes it hard for me to apply to just any school. As a non-traditional student and 29 years old, some schools have a limit on coursework and some have told me to not worry about it and apply anyways. I also took my prereqs at a Community College but followed them up with lots of upper level Sciences to get my Biological Science degree in 2006. But this again will cut out schools because of CC work. After sitting out for a year and working, I got accepted in an honors program to be certified as a Medical Technologist in 2008. It is a one year fast track program instead of the normal two year. I have been a supervisor/manager over a whole hospital lab since receiving my certification and passing boards. I recently applied to a few schools after taking the DAT in August of this year! So anyone have any ideas or thoughts on what other schools to apply to? I would love to hear any thoughts as I have called a lot of schools and spent a lot of time researching. I have not had Stats, I had Comparative Anatomy and Plant Physiology. Schools have said that I need to take Physiology as some stated that Plant Phys should be ok.

AA 19 GPA 3.67O 3.54S 3.92 NonS
PAT 19
QR 19
RC 21
Bio 17
Chem19
Orgo 17
TS 18

My LORs is another thing due to being out of school so long. As I don't have a lot of teachers still there but my one connection I feel like is almost as close as I could ask for a Com Letter! Dr. Downer was the following for me:

1. Dean of the Science Department/My personal advisor/ My teacher for a few classes and labs.
2. Pathologist I was under while in the MT program and also over me when I was over the hospital lab
3. Dentist

Most schools have told me not to worry as the above will be great since I am a non-trad and have been out of school so long.

Applied:

University of Tennessee
University of Louisville
University of Maryland
Midwestern University- Illinois
University of New England

Schools that said it would be ok with my circumstances:

NOVA- but the DAT average she said is 21 and GPA 3.7
Temple-stated that I could apply and see what the board says
NYU- stated that I could apply and see what happens
Colorado- Said that they only have 10 or so seats for non WICHE states
LECOM- Said it is ok
Nevada- I read that if you don't apply early you won't get a chance if OOS? Is this true?
U of Penn- I read that a 21 DAT so if you are a 19 you probably are wasting time?
UAB

Not sure:
Case

Any help would be appreciated!!!!!

Thanks for your time in advance

Sorry if I missed it, but which state did you say you were a resident of?

I think you should be able to get accepted to TN with those scores. Just my hunch. But I do like the rest of your list. Would have been better to have applied earlier though. Maryland and UNE will probably be your toughest to get into. Maybe add a couple more schools like LECOM, NYU, USC...they're expensive though. Up to you.

Why didn't you apply to VCU, they have a good OOS acceptance rate and your stats are above their averages? My adviser also told me that they put a large emphasis on maturity, so your age would be beneficial if shes correct.

They both require two letters which I have just the one! I am thinking that they might take that into consideration since most of the admissions people I have talked to told me that they understand and look at a non-traditional totally different since the application always is so different.

I know I am late in the game on all of it, but I'm still shadowing and mentoring so if I get interviews they will know that I am serious about a career change!

Thoughts:
Nova
LECOM
NYU
VCU

I'm actually a dentist looking to help pre-dental and dental students. Let me know if you have questions.

Thanks, any advice on where else I should apply as I am already behind in the game.

Don't most schools require Stats? I'd definitely add NYU to your list. Better late than never.

A lot of schools do not have stats or A&P listed under prereqs that are required but under suggested. But you are right some do require them.

Any other thoughts?

I know you know this, but unless you have a rockin' application, now is just extremely late to apply... the application cycle opened in early June, ya know? I suppose you could throw an app at NYU and see what happens... they seem to interview really late into next year. I would probably leave things as they are other than that, though. You will basically be fighting for post-December slots. I just don't want you to waste hundreds of dollars. You are likely dealing with diminishing returns at this point.
