My eligibility extended period ends on sept 30.....i have not scheduled a date with prometric....as i don't think i am prepared completely. i know i wont get back my fees and i have to apply again with fees. But my qusetion is would it be considered as attempt?how can i cancel my exam?......please help

Unless you start the test @ the Prometric center it is not considered an attempt even if you have booked the date and did not reach the prometric center for whatever reason.
So, just re-apply once your eligibility period ends.
 
thanks a lot for the reply.....but do i have to inform ecfmg that i am not taking the test ?...I have not scheduled any date with prometric....so is it fine if i just dont show up

AFAIK there is no need to inform the ECFMG since you will be paying the full fee. So, just let it pass and re-apply once the date has passed.
Just read it from the horse's mouth at the ecfmg website. It's very clearly explained.
