HI,
I am a student from Germany and I am planning to do the Step 2 CS as soon as possible. However I am not familiar with the american way of interwieving patients. How can I prepare myself to pass this exam. Are there any book recommandations? How much time will I need for the preparation?
I know, a lot of questions, but I feal a little bit frightened to do an exam in a foreign country. 😳

I would start with "First Aid for the USMLE Step 2 CS". Are you a fluent English speaker? From what I have heard, that may be your biggest problem with the exam. Even if you think you are proficient in English, keep in mind that the standardized patients may still count off for relatively minor misuse of the English language. Practice with someone else who speaks fluent English.

Good luck! I am sure some FMG's may have more useful advice specific to your situation.

Thank you for your advice. I am more or less fluent in ENglish. I spent a couple of month in NYC a few years ago. However I have a hard time with the different dialects. Believe it or not. Sometimes it is easier for me to understand a foreigner, who speaks broken english, than a native english speaking person.

First Aid for CS as well as Kaplan for CS. I believe the Kaplan book provides details about cultural norms/expectations for an American patient interview.
