Please help w/ list! Okay ECs

Why are you adding SUNYs if you are a CA resident? Privates are better. I suggest replacing upstate and downstate with Rochester and Einstein. Also look into adding NYU/Cornell/Sinai. Case Western is also a good choice. If you have Drexel, add Temple and Jeff as well. Tufts and BU are also good options.

Your activities are great. I assume you interacted with patients during your clinical research? If so, make sure to emphasize that. You should probably shadow some more as well.

Thanks for the suggestions! I added the SUNYs after seeing someone suggest those for another CA resident on here.

Yes, I did interact a lot with patients while I did clinical research. My plan is to do more shadowing this summer, but that won't be included on the app until I get secondaries. Do you think I have enough clinical experience to get to that stage? I've heard of schools that assign points to your activities and am worried I won't make the "cutoff", particularly for UCs that pre-screen. Thanks again for your help.

I think you'll be okay as long as you explain that you interacted with patients/physicians during the clinical research. Shadow some more and update schools later on. If you're really worried then maybe you can cram some shadowing in now before you submit your application, but I dunno how feasible that is.

I don't know if SUNYs are high yield for CA applicants - though Stony Brook may be a good one to keep. The other schools I mentioned are all within your range. More suggestions: UMiami, Rush, Loyola, Rosalind Franklin, Dartmouth, Ohio State, Cincinnati, Wake Forest.

Also its not worth it to have UWashington if you're not from the region.

Yeah unfortunately I don't think I'd be able to get a significant amount of hours in by then. I'll do what you said though about emphasizing the patient interaction and updating them again later.

Thanks for all the suggestions; I'll take a closer look and add them to my list.

What do you think my chances are for the UCs and other California schools?

The UCs are always super competitive, but your numbers and activities give you a shot for sure.
