Neurology might be getting a little more difficult to get into starting next year. If I were you I would really do well on Step 2 before you apply. That way your step 1 score is justified. The fact that you are a US IMG is better than the fact that I went to the caribbean.; but I did well on both steps and I did get some good places to interview at.

Remember that much of matching is actually based on connections. I know of one IMG who matched at my school's program after completing one year of IM at a community hospital because he did a rotation at our school and the PD liked him. Although, based on your post, you state that you are not an IMG, so your chances of matching into this fairly noncompetetive residency are excellent. Board scores aren't nearly as important as your clinical rotation evals and LOR's for neurology. If you really do want to increase your chances of matching at a particular institution, I would reccomend doing a fourth year electve in neurology at that institution and trying to get a good LOR from whoever you work with. Of course having research experience is always respected at the academic centers as well. There is a ton of neuro research going on right now, I'm certain that you won't have any difficulty finding a decent project to do at your home school or at another school. Good luck.
