i have been waitlisted to boston university.A week ago i received a letter from them saying that they might have no of opening available between june and august and to confrom if i am still intrested to be on their alternate list.
I am not sure what does this mean. Can any one please advice me of the chances of getting out from the waitlist.

Thanks a lot.

why would you want to be placed off the list?

no, write them a letter and tell them you are still interested.

Hi Amanda999
Definately tell them that you are still interested. There may be people who are not able to pay the tution for the first semester and therefore won't be able to enroll. I was unable to get private loans and am struggling to get money together to pay the fall tuition, which is due in about a month. So hey, you may be able to take my spot, god forbid.

you couldn't get any loans to cover your tuition?
wow!
i have been stressing myself over finaid and all my friends keep saying that i'll have the loans and $$ when needed. i guess i wasn't wrong about being stressed.

i am really confused. i know that your credit history matters when it comes to getting a loan, but i still thought that you could get loans that may be with a little higher interest.

can someone please elaborate more on loans?

Hey Perfect 3435
I got stafford loans and such by filling out FAFSA, however, with all that I am still short just a little for the first semester without any private loans. Keep in mind that I will be attending BU, very expensive and that nearly all the fees are accessed the first semester, so second semester should be covered. That being said I know that I couldn't make the living costs without the help of my girlfriend, who will be earning a P.H.T(pushing hubby through). You are going to attend Indiana right? You shouldn't have a problem covering your costs if you have stafford loans, that I know of.

All your tuition may not be covered by government loans such as Stafford, but there are a plethora of private lenders (even those that specialize in medical/dental school loans) that are willing to cover you.

Also, don't forget federal Perkins loans, if you need more than Stafford to get you through.

Perfect, no need to worry about covering tuition. You CAN and WILL find plenty of loans to cover the amounts. Typically the school's financial aid offices will even find the lenders for you (usually lenders who they have worked with for years).

thank you all for your posts.
i can finally breath again. can't wait to just having to worry about my studies only!
