I indicated on my application that i was going to be retaking the DAT in September. I really only wanted to improve my PAT score, although everything could use a boost, but at this point i dont think that i can guarantee a higher score in that or any section.

I spoke to the admissions offices at a couple of the schools i am applying to and they told me if i am not going to take the test, that i need to send a letter stating that i am not going to take it.

here is the question: does it look bad to them for me not to retake it? and as far as the schools which have already granted me interviews, is this a problem?

Obviously, it woudn't look very good to say that you were going to retake the DAT and then not retake it. However, it may be in your best interest to defer retaking the DAT as opposed to running the risk of lowering your score. That is a call you would have to make. If you think your scores are adequate to get you into school, then I would not retake it. The risk of lowering your score is toooo scary!!

I'm sort of in the same situation. There are a few schools who won't honor my 1st score because it's 3 years old and others that want to see me do better in one portion. I did indicate that I'm going to take the DAT again on my application, but I'm pretty nervous about not getting a better score. Anyway, I'm going to take it, but I'm not designating any schools to have the score sent to right away. I realize that some schools might download scores anyway... but I doubt all of the schools will see my score if i don't personally send it to them. If i do well, I'll fax an unofficial score right away and then i'll have official scores sent out too.

Sorry that i am totally of topic but for some reason i cant post a new thread. I studied my ass off this summer, actually from August to September 14. I did all the Kaplan things and a did 2 tests on topscore. what more could i have done? AA:18 Bio:17 GChem: 18 Ochem:19 RC:18 QT;19 Pat:19

Also i am only sending my application out to ADEA in a couple of days, do you think its too late????

I think you are in a tough spot. AADSAS could take their time and really finish you off or hurry up and help you out. This is a crapshoot. If your LORs and transcripts aren't already at AADSAS I'd say this looks even worse, just based on transit time. Depending on where you apply, your ties to the school, and ECs things could go your way.

But, if you don't apply this year you'll probably end up retaking the DAT and reapplying next year. Personally, I'd take a long shot over no shot.

Thanks , what do you mean ties to school? How do you have ties to schools???
