I have a couple of questions about the TMDSAS application and the DAT. Any input is greatly appreciated. I am applying to dental school for the year 2008. I'm almost done with my appl. and will submit it probably by tomorrow. Do you think I'm too late? and Will this decrease my chance of getting accepted? Also, I haven't taken the DAT, but plan on taking it the end of this month. What do you guys think?
Thanks!

its a rolling admissions process so the sooner ur stuff is in the better. so the later u turn stuff in the lower ur chances become. the longer u wait to take the dat the longer it takes for schools to declare ur application complete. dont rush the dat because if u take it early and dont do well u take yourself out of the game. if u get strong dat scores and everything else is in order u should be able to grab an interview and possible admission. worst come to worst u reapply next year.

No its not too late. I had my app in around this time and I took my DAT middle of September.

I don't think it is too late if you have a good GPA and great DAT scores. On the TMDSAS thread on SDN it has been discussed a lot that several of the TX schools issued invites to interview even without DAT scores on file and that several of the schools hold positions for late applicants that have good scores. I don't know if any of that is true or not.

Just rock out that DAT and apply. If you don't get in then I would really look at the reasons why your app wasn't strong enough this round. Then reapply early next time, retake the DAT if your score isn't where you feel it should be, and keep working to improve all your skills.

Best of luck to you!

Thank you for all the replies. I can calm my stress a bit now.
