Dear users!
I really appreciate if you could help me and give me some advise.
I took my OAT recently and did horribly in reading comprehension.I ususally did no get that redicoulous score when i was practicing with kaplan material. English is my second language. I did well in other part, but my reading part i guess keep me from accepting anywhere. I was just wondering how i can possibly improve it?if any of u guys used special technique to practice or any particular book. what do u suggest for me to improve my reading comp?please please help me if any of u had this kind of problem and could improve your score for the second time.
I really appreciate you kindness and help!

How were your other scores on the OAT? If you only did poorly on the RC section, then maybe you can still apply to other schools if your Academic Average and Total Science scores are acceptable.
Since there aren't many online RC practice available besides OAT Achiever and TopScore, you'll need to look elsewhere for practice. For the RC section, I would quickly write down the main point for each paragraph, so that when I returned to passage to look for the answer, I wouldn't waste time rereading the unnecessary paragraphs. Also, I would skip questions that I couldn't quickly find & returned to them later if time permits. For additional practice, I used natural science passages from GRE, SAT, and ACT books from Princeton, Kaplan, Peterson's. Also, beware that the OAT RC passages will be longer. PM me if you want some more suggestions. Good luck!

the first time i took the OAT, i had a low RC (280) the second time i took it, which was last month, i got a 350. the difference was in my preparation..I read as many science articles i could find. I borrowed my optometrist's OPTOMETRY trade publications and read all the articles, and bought a scientific american to read articles out of there too. Try going to the library, they usually have great resources of magazines...just try to find more science based, or ones with research articles. try to read as much as possible to improve the speed of your reading, as well as your comprehension of the material. the more you practice, the better you'll get.
