So I normally post in the veterinary forums considering I plan to apply to vet school next year. The reason I'm posting here is that my wife and I just recently had a newborn. She is 12 weeks of age and was recently diagnosed with Horner's syndrome by the pediatric ophtamologist we saw this past Thursday. He obviously had some concerns if she did not have symptomology since she was born, but looking back through her pictures I was able to notice the ptosis in the affected eye when she was a newborn, and the difference in pupilary dilation since she was about 3 weeks old. Unfortunately I've been googling constantly since the diagnosis and I have a number of questions. First and foremost is that the opthamologist did not wish her to have an MRI while she is this young and taking a urine sample is near impossible so no yeigh or neigh can be given to if this is so form of cancer. I'm just wondering if there are any other options or are we just stuck having to watch her development? Should I go ahead and setup an appointment with a pediatric neurologist? Secondly does anyone know if the symptoms will progress...will her ptosis become more and more noticeable as she ages? Since I've been reading I noticed that there are a plethora of possibilites as to the cause of Horner's and as such I take it that no real treatment can take place until the underlying cause is determined...I'm just really upset and worried and wanted to get some honest opinions on my options...Thanks a ton for reading.
