So here are pros: 3.9gpa in biochem major at a good state school. and based on practice tests, I am expecting at least a 35 MCAT score. Problem is that as of now I am considering taking the MCAT on August 6th and haven't started on applications. I am expecting to possibly finish and submit the applications around let's say, early to mid august. So basicially the score and verification should be finished around early september.
1)What are my chances of getting into a med school looking like? and
2) Which schools in NY should I consider?

Thank you and if you're only here to troll, do it somewhere else.

1) Totally depends on your MCAT score. Is your predicted score based on the AAMC FL exams? If so why don't you take it in June or July? That also gives you the option of retaking in August in case you don't get the score you want (lots of people get high practice scores and are disappointed on the real deal).

2) Again, depends on your MCAT score. With a 35 I would apply to all of them. With a 30 I would leave out schools like Columbia, NYU, Einstein, etc.

Basically without a real MCAT score there isn't much we can say about your app.

Either take the MCAT sooner, or delay your application by one year.

People are already submitting AMCAS, and the info goes out to schools on June 17 (3 days!). Realistically, you don't have an application yet... 👎

If you can score 35+ on an AAMC practice exam, I recommend you take a July MCAT instead

The main problem is that the only seats left in july are not in new york and are a 4 hour drive away. And the only option at this point is july 28 or august 6th. Are you saying that putting in my appliation by august will hurt my chances that much?

You said you expect 35+ on the MCAT...do you think this because you've been taking practice exams, or do you just have a hunch that you'll do well? There are plenty of people around here that think they'll kill the MCAT because they have a high GPA and did well on the ACT or whatever--GPA and previous standardized test scores are NOT necessarily accurate predictors of MCAT performance.

It's not unusual to drive a few hours to take the MCAT. If you're already scoring 35's on the AAMC exams, you're more than ready for the real thing. I would suggest finding a July test date and making the drive.

That being said, if you have very strong EC's and legitimately expect to do very very well on the MCAT, your chances won't be harmed that much by a late app. Earlier is still better though.

Don't be surprised if you don't do as well on your actual test than you did on your practice tests.
