Despite my below average MCAT and GPA's, I am applying for the '05 cycle. If I am not granted admission this cycle, I will retake the MCAT in April '05 (can't take this aug b/c of summer program and no sense in delaying my app). Considering my bio, would you agree w/ my tentative list?

Schools in Puerto Rico<--Any comments??

Is this too ambitious. Should I add/delete schools. I am not interested in DO or Carib schools (except for those in PR). If I am not granted admission, I will take a few more post bacc courses, retake the MCAT in April '05, and apply again.

Thanks for your help, and congrats to those of you who got the score that they wanted on the MCAT. As for those of us who are a bit disappointed- we'll get there.

I lied...
I am interested in SGU. Is this the best school in the carib. How does it compare to schools in PR? Thanks again.
Chris

I think you have a shot at getting in. I think your list looks pretty good and I would add MCV (Medical College of Virginia) even though you are out of state. My friend is going to MCV and I think she got a lower score on the MCAT but her gpa was very high.

Thanks for your reply

i would think that you would get in without too much of a problem. you may want to even cut a few schools out, would you really go if accepted?

and you're a shoo-in to SGU.

you could try loyola (IL) too...that's a pretty good safety

i wouldnt say that. people with much higher scores dont even get in.
but your overall application is competitive.
you need to have a good PS, solid LORs and work those secondaries.

You are definately in.....plus you speak another language=++++, and they will cut you slack on gpa because of your ethnicity( not saying that you need the help, but I would take the ride if they wanted to give it to me b/c I am irish-american) Don't delay, you are a goood candidate for alot of schools that I researched

I agree, however, it's going to get really expensive to apply to all those schools, and especially if you are still living in PR, travel for interviews also won't be cheap. Not saying you shouldn't do it, but if you can eliminate any that you REALLY don't think are a good fit, or feasible because of location/cost etc., it might be helpful from a $$$ perspective

Much appreciated

Ohio Schools that have good out of state acceptance ratios... Check the MSAR or the individual school websites for the specific stats.

Good Luck! :luck:

It's probably not worth it to apply to Brown. I think most of their students are from some BA/MD program.
