Pm&r?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Absolutely not. Go to PT school if you want to do PT. PM&R may order PT and have similar goals of functional improvement and pain relief, but the day to day work is entirely different.

If you do a PM&R residency can you work as a PT? Just wondering

No... why would you even want to? They often work closely together but that's like getting an MD, doing an EM residency and then wanting to work as an ED Nurse.

This and this^
As someone who was a frogs hair away from going to PT school, I can tell you nope. But you can work toward the same goal and in the same clinic . PMR is probably the most seamless transition for anyone with a kinesiology / pt background wanting to go into medicine. I can't wait to get there. My goal is to do residency at the mayo clinic 😀

However, with Pt, it's not wise to go into that school unless you go instate. Out of state tuition cost more for three years than most instate med schools do for four years. And you know the salary outcome...
