I know this years match every spot was filled and the field is getting competitive. I was wondering ever since, did any spots ever open up? How often does that happen? Wondering because I feel like I won't match and will have to rely on a scramble or opening to do what I love.

Why do you think you won't match? Be honest with yourself and fix that weakness in your application before match rolls around. Relying on an open scramble slot when there weren't any this year is a terrible strategy.
