Anyone hear anything about this program, I am thinking it and whether it would be worth doing a rotation there or JFK in NJ, as they are both small programs I wouldn't mind ending up in. thanks
I don't know much about metro but would highly recommend JFK. I loved my time at JFK - it was cozy, warm, and fun. The residents there tend to be laid back, smart, and social. Dr. Cuccurullo is a very dedicated program director and the priority of resident education is never lost. There was minimal scutwork and the residents were all very happy.
When I rotated there, I befriended one of the chiefs who went on to fellowship at Florida spine in clearwater. He said he had logged more procedures than many of the other applicants and that was part of the reason why he was able to snag that fellowship. I know there's a JFK grad from a year or two ago who did her pain fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic. I can't remember the specifics of who does what procedures but the people I talked to seemed satisfied.

The Cleveland program is primarily based outta MetroHealth. They had pretty good facilities; I think they were opening clinics on the MetroHealth campus itself last I remember. I also remember being impressed with their research, but I heard that might have changed (implantable stimulators for motor control, heard that the device was not being manufactured anymore).

I recently completed a rotation at the Metrohealth PM&R program.
Here's my take:
The research seems solid. Dr. Chae seems to have a lot of cool new ideas to research. I know there are other attendings with their own projects, but I don't know enough to comment on those
The didactics are good. Thursday mornings for 3 hours a week. Good, well structured lectures.
I spent 2 weeks on inpatient, on a floor dedicated to stroke rehab. Good experience. The days were between 10-14 hours/day. I spent 2 weeks on outpatient. The clinic is part of the Metrohealth complex, and I saw several different patient types.
