Pod schools in suburban areas

Hi guys:

So I go to a smaller NJ liberal arts school in a suburban area and am just nervous as to all these city Pod schools because I am not really a "city" person. I have visited NYCPM and Temple so far and really loved them, but i truly don't know if i can adapt to those city/urban environments. Growing up and attending undergrad in suburban areas kinda makes me want to go to a school in a similar environment that is both somewhat upbeat but quiet.

I am applying for next cycle but can anyone please tell me some of the pod schools (if any) that are in suburban areas. it would be highly appreciated.

The only one I can speak for is KSUCPM. It is in the city of Independence about 15-20 minutes outside of downtown Cleveland in a nice suburb

DMU is located in a suburban neighborhood in West Des Moines. Housing is available around the school (directly across the street or next door to the clinic and in some of the surrounding neighborhoods). I would describe the surrounding areas as affluent. A large grocery store is located 1 street over parallel to Grand (the street the school is on). There are nearby churches and bars for those so inclined. There is a rose garden / park very near the school that connects to a trail which runs all the way to Gray's Lake.

AZPOD is in a suburban neighborhood. It is a reasonably good neighborhood as well and about 25 minutes from downtown Phoenix.

Scholl is not in Chicago city area, but in the suburbs. You have a lot of choices 🙂

western is surrounded by suburban neighborhoods. the school is located in a small somewhat ghetto city. but a 5-10 minute drive in all directions leads you to real nice suburban cities.

I grew up in a suburb & went to a small undergraduate college as well. I [still] don't consider myself a city person, and yet I find myself attending NYCPM. I'm only a first year but the experience that we will get as physicians in a city setting, especially this one, is something that simply cannot be matched in a suburban area. It took a little bit of adjusting but there are a lot of great attributes to living in a city especially while in medical school. The food options are endless, you can always take a walk to a starbucks or a cafe or a store if you just need to take a break. You can also get just about anywhere.
I'm not sure if you are from New Jersey or just go to school there, but if you grew up there just remember that you can always hop on a train and go back to the suburbs whenever you want from the city (that applies to Temple & NYCPM).

Aren't you a current student?

DMU isn't in West Des Moines - it's definitely in Des Moines. Not to get too technical, but West Des Moines city edge is about 2 miles away, and usually when people refer to West Des Moines they are referring to the Jordan Creek area anyways which is even further.

Correct. DMU is in Des Moines proper. I shouldn't have capitalized the west. There is a West Des Moines also and the distinction is significant for mapping software.
