Anything by MedEd Media:
  • Premed years - 6 years worth of episodes. Great stuff on everything pre-med
  • Old-premeds - geared towards non-trads
  • MCAT (if you have yet to take the MCAT)
  • Specialty stories - interviews with physicians about their specialities
  • Short coat podcast - put on by Carver College of Medicine. Very funny and informative.
And some other good ones
  • Bedside rounds - more of a medical history podcast, but interesting if you are into that.
  • Dr. Death - great podcast about Christopher Duntsch
  • White Coat Investor - if you are interested in finances
  • Talking Admissions and Med Student Life - lots of interviews with current med students at University of Utah. Really great info on different specialties and what to expect in med school
  • All Access Med School Admissions - the admissions director at Case Western just interviews all of his admissions friends from different medical schools across the country and they tell you how to get into their specific medical schools.

The Undifferentiated Med Student are interviews with physicians of diff specialties! Started by a student @ case western whos now a resident who had trouble figuring out his direction- ended up matching at JHU lol

NEJM has a weekly podcast with research updates. In fact you'll find there are podcasts for any specialty you're interested in. For example, PsychEd, Curbsiders, JAMA, Brain Waves, Skeptics Guide to the Universe, White Coat Black Art. Bedside rounds and Curbsiders are my #1 & 2

Theyre all free on spotify?!

This Podcast Will Kill You is about infectious diseases by two epidemiologists! Also would highly recommend Nutrition Rounds which is from a cardiologist who runs a plant based clinic and interviews researchers and physicians. Final recommendation is As A Woman from Dr. Natalie Crawford which focuses on being a woman in medicine and fertility medicine.

What are you guys' preferred news/global current events podcasts? A lot of the popular ones focus heavily on white house news.

This is a pretty good. Neutral, to the point. They release 5 min of news every hour. I usually try to catch one every day.

White house news is the hot topic right now so you won’t have much luck avoiding that at the moment.

I'm partial to political news tbh, since that's a lot of what's going on. But 'Up First' by NPR and 'The Daily' by NYT are good daily briefings to keep up with stuff. They definitely skew US centric, but will hit major global news as well.

'Pod Save the World' (by Crooked Media, the guys who do 'Pod Save America', etc.) is a very good weekly global politics and affairs podcast, and they get great insider guests, but leans left-heavy.

Also, I don't listen to it as frequently, but 'Global Dispatches' is pretty good and really hits the important global stories.
