Just to shake things up around here. List your favorite animal-related movie(s) or animal characters in a movie:

Mine:

Dr. Doolittle (the original Rex Harrison musical - see siggy)

Hidalgo (the scene at the end where the mustangs are running gets me teary-eyed every single time)

Turner and Hooch

The Horse of a Different Color (Wizard of Oz)

ok, this is kind of stupid...but the cartoon movie of Rikki-Tiki-Tavi, i've always loved him, ever since i was little!!

also, the mother dog in Babe and all her little puppies...i guess you could just say i like the entire movie.

OH, and totally cliche, the first Free Willy movie.

I'd have to say '6 Below'(I think that's the name) When the siberian huskies get stranded because the dad (Paul Walker, yummy 😍) has to evacuate and they live on their own in Antartica for 3 months.

Black Beauty stole my heart.
and was educational on the lives of horses tossed from one place to another (well. . .educational when i was 8 years old anyway)
😛

Well I loved Best in Show... but if we are talking best heartwarming movie then I loved Homeward Bound.

The ORIGINAL "Flipper" T.V. series was the best!

I second the Homeward Bound vote, plus I must have to say that one of my other favorites is Beethoven (I have a Saint).

From the Big Screen: Benji! the one and only. I even had the lunch box.

TV: B&W= Rin Tin Tin
Color= Boomer from the Here's Boomer TV series of the late 70's

God, I just totally dated myself.😳

Few more:

Templeton (Charlotte's Web).

Archimedes (sp?) (The Sword in the Stone)

Mr. Ed!!!

Probably not my favorite, but Milo and Otis is classic.

8 Below, but you were close... 😉

Shadowfax from Lord of the Rings. I just LOVE when Gandalf is riding him out to intercept the Nazgul and the Gondor riders on Pelleanor Fields (and the music!) from Return of the King. 😀

I totally loved White Fang the wolfdog from White Fang waaaaay back when I was like in 3rd grade. I loved both White Fang and Call of the Wild (my Siberian husky/Rottweiler is named Buck).

Land Before Time (the original, not the 20 sequels):

Chordy, I LOVED Riki Tiki Tavi and the rest of the Rudyard Kipling animated movies. 😀 I found out you can get them on DVD called The Chuck Jones Collection.

Caution: nudity! From Mowgli's Brothers (which I actually prefer to the Disney version of The Jungle Book *ducks*)

I always did like Pete the Pup from Our Gang and The Little Rascals:

And last but not least...The Lion King! The best animated Disney movie, IMHO. Scar's my favorite...

I was going to say the Lion King too. Animated animals count!

If we were doing books I'd have quite a few more... like Tock from the Phantom Tollbooth. 🙂

EDIT: Wait, how can SCAR be your FAVORITE? Weirdo!! He's all evil an' stuff. 🙄

Oh The Land Before Time! I still get weepy at certain parts of that one. (Just the original one)

I liked the hyena's in the Lion King.

Another vote for The Land Before Time, Homeward Bound, Babe, and Lion King..

I've got a lov-e-ly bunch of coconuts (dee dee dee), there they are all standing in a row.....
Big ones, small ones, some as big as your head!

Electrophile...you made my day saying you like the Rudyard Kipling animated movies as well 😀

I actually just watched some of them on you-tube the other day (sad, i know), but it's good to know you can actually find them in complete form!

I have a deep appreciation for Jeremy Irons, I'll put it that way. His voice is only second to Alan Rickman for me. 😀 I like Mufasa, but I find Matthew Broderick's voice annoying, so I don't like Simba quite as much.

I like a lot of morally ambiguous/Byronic hero (or anti hero) type characters in general. Not necessarily the straight up bad boys either. They're not as interesting! 😉

-Scar from the Lion King (who is more straight evil than morally ambiguous, but eh...)
-Claude Frollo from The Hunchback of Notre Dame (more so the book than any of the films)
-Mr. Rochester from Jane Eyre
-Severus Snape from Harry Potter most of all! 😎

And I'm sad some of my pictures are gone. Awww shucks!

How much I loved the 'Doberman Gang" Movie (yes, of course another oldie but a goody) This the was the movie that got me interested in animal training.

(Theme Song) They were the Dog-Honest gang, anyone had ever seen.... Public enemy number one!

Bonnie, Clyde, Pretty Boy Floyd, Baby Face Nelson, Dillinger, and Ma Barker.

And the English Bulldog....anyone...anyone....

J. Edgar Hoover.

Cheesy but still a Classic!

Ah, I guess I get the bad boy thing. I have a friend that LOVES Alan Rickman. I think he makes an excellent Snape, but... as for HP movie hotties, I think I was all for Cedric really. Which is sad.

I kinda like rooting for bad guys sometimes, but usually in stranger and more vile situations. Like, Spacey's character in SE7EN. Haha. Or... Hannibal Lecter. Much more so in the books than in the movies, tohugh.

I just can't like Scar, because I still can't watch that scene without bawling my eyes out. I'm assuming that I could mostly restrain myself at this point, but no promises can be made. I mean, that's pretty freakin sad for an 8 year old watching a Disney movie! No one died in the Little Mermaid, for pete's sake.

I like all those movies too! What about Second Hand Lions? So cute!!

That should be coming in today on my Netflix queue, woo hoo!

man what are you talking about!! ursula has one very grim/disturbing death. i mean, i know she is the evil one and all, but still...if you're talking little kid disturbing, i'm pretty sure getting stabbed in the chest by a big a** ship mast as well as electrocution falls under that category 🙄

Oh my, I must need to go watch the movie again... I totally do NOT remember that! I guess it's definitely been a while. Consider my Disney violence theory rescinded. However, how about a good-guy-dies theory? That's probably what bothers me.

"Dad! Nooooooo..."

Yeah. Sad!

what about the penguins in Happy Feet?! SO cute!

What were the local native animals in Madagascar? Were those lemurs? They were fun too. They were always talking about the "Foosa."

Gotta third (or fourth or fifth, whatever) Homeward Bound. I freaking loved that movie. And the end (uh, spoiler alert if no one's seen the movie ) where Shadow comes back is one of the few areas that could ever make me choke up in a movie.

It's sad that animal movies are much more prone to make me choke up than any strife of humans in movies.

agreed...i'm the same way.
and the same thing with shadow...oh my god! when he "comes back" at the end always gets me going. don't even get me started on the lion king when mufasa dies. 🙁

i was even rewatching finding nemo the other day, which i've seen before, and THAT got me all choked up and teary eyed as well. thank god no one else was home to completely ridicule me for crying over it, i mean, i KNOW it turns out just fine.

for movies i would have to say two bits and pepper, old yeller, lassie, the great panda adventure, dr. doolittle, flicka, k-9, turner and hooch, all the free willies, the new tv movie every second counts, and more

Babe! I love pigs!

OOOO! I just saw that again the other day, I forgot how funny it was (the duck that wants to be a rooster) . I love the little mice in between seens, annoying but lovable at the same time.

All Dogs Go to Heaven is my favorite. Really sad though

The singing mice from Babe ( sorry, I've smelled the swine farm, so I can't say the pig's cute.)and the Black Stallion.

I have to throw in some more votes for The Lion King, Homeward Bound, and Eight Below!

Also, has anyone ever seen the movie Two Brothers?? I LOVE that movie!!!

Yeah. Sad!

First, Lion King is prob my favorite of all time (have you ever seen the Broadway musical? Amazing!)

And not to get nitpicky, but I think EVERY Discney movie seems to have some deaths (good and bad guys), I mean lots of sea critters were murdered by the crazy French Chef, yes? Terrible, just treeible...

Oh, and I love Balto, and Morgrim, the wolf Chief of Police from the Cronicles of Narnia (evil, yes, but I love em'😍)

I *did* see the broadway show! I loved the elephants. So cool! I think the husb was bored. 😀

aren't they most of the time with that sort of thing? i know it's different, but i vaguely mentioned/asked my boyfriend of several years if he'd go see mamma mia with me, and he just seemed horrified by the whole musical/singing aspect of it. dumb...obviously people don't go around singing in their day to day life, but musicals are still awesome!! granted much better on stage than via movie theatre, but still.

My husband tolerates my love affair with ABBA and the Bee Gees (and Michael Jackson, but shh, don't tell anyone...) but I tolerate some things about him as well, like his love of music played way too loud (I have more speakers in this house than I don't know what, and don't get me started on the 60" telly...) or a love affair with old cars that will certainly lead to something sitting in the yard or garage that he will probably pay more attention to than me... so a little ABBA couldn't hurt him much I say.

Please enjoy the irony of confessing ABBA love with a TOOL signature. I'm all about the variety, music-wise.

Sorry for the hijack. 😀
