This poll is for med school matriculants and current students in med school only. I am just curious to see what the mean number of times one has taken the MCAT is in this population.

I plan on taking the MCAT this August, but I don't know if I will be able to reach my goal of a 30. I seem to be having a lot of problems with the passages, and my initial diagnostic score was not good. As I was talking to my Kaplan instructor, he told me that it might be a good idea for me to consider taking the review course twice before taking the actual MCAT. I took this as meaning that obtaining the 30 that i had initially hoped for was a longshot. Nevertheless, I will continue working hard and studying in hopes of proving this wrong.

Thanks for your polls guys!

ps- this poll is totally anonymous.

I thought i'd shoot out a couple of questions to those of you who took the MCAT more than once: what did you do in the mean time while you were waiting for you next chance to take the test? was it difficult to stay motivated to pursue the career that you had been dreaming of for so long?

i took the god forsaken thing 3 times and i literally spent a year taking mcats. I took aug, april , aug, and in between i just studied for the next time. Sad thing is after taking, studying, taking , studying i didnt even improve taht much in teh end. Oh well i hate that test

I knew if I took it more than once I'd lose my mind. So I devoted almost a year to studying for it. I started off slowly in November while taking a full course load. From Mid-May to Aug I was all about MCAT (no job, no summer school). I was devoted....

I'm so glad it's behind me.
