UMich is not an easy school to get into. Why are you not including Michigan schools in your question?

As of this year, none of the schools are 'easy'. If you are an average applicant, every school is difficult. If you have a great application, you shouldn't worry about easy or difficult schools.

Private schools normally take lots of students, so chances of getting in are higher. It doesn't make the school any less competitive, though.
Just apply early and you'll be fine.

there will be a lot of students here that get into schools with standards beyond their grades, and then some students who get into all the "hard' schools without ever being accepted to the "easy" schools. Even a 3.8 can't guarantee your admission if it's your first year applying.

People always say applying a second time can increase your chances (even if you have a 3.8). but i don't really get it. how does applying again up your chances? Okay, you might have a bit higher GPA or DAT scores, but if you have a 3.8 already and u don't get in the first year...what more can you do? it's obviously not your GPA. maybe a second time applying, you'll be more familiar with interviews and the knitty ditty details but in terms of the schools, do they go, "wow this person is a reapplicant" and view that as a higher priority??

in the end, each year gets more competitive as more ppl are applying so doesn't applying the next year be even harder?

Actually the total number of applicants was down slightly this cycle.

Reapplicants probably have improved their stats as well as extracurriculars and gained interview experience since their last cycle, all of which can help them applying a second time. I'm not sure to what extent (if at all) adcoms will look upon someone more favorably solely because they are a reapplicant.

i would just assume that all applicants are equal, it all depends on what you have done and your stats... I dont think they are gonna feel bad for you or give you room for error if you are a reapplicant

there is another thread exactly the same as this one..............
