Hi guys,
This is my first post. I wanted to tell you about my frustrations applying with an unamed school to see if any of you had a similar experience. Throughout the entire process I never recieved one letter from the school, only one or two e-mails. My OAT score was recieved right at the deadline due to the way my classes fell. I was taking 2 important classes at the time (organic and physics). I recieved an interview by e-mail but was never contacted after that. After about 1 1/2 months I finally heard through a student in the program, who had spoken to a member of the admissions committee, that the class was filled. To this day I never recieved a rejection letter. I was wondering if anyone else experienced this lack of communication in their application experience.

Did you even go to the interview?

Did you contact the school to schedule an interview? Normally, if a school e-mails you an interview invite, it would be your responsibility to contact the school. I'm sure they're not going to call you to badger you to schedule an interview since if you applied, you're very interested in the school. Also, in my experience, rejection letters aren't sent out until after your interview or after all interviews have been conducted and the application season has ended. Since you did not interview, then they have probably kept your file open waiting for a response from you. My best advice for you is to contact that school and see what's going on with your file and if they're still conducting interviews. Some schools still interview even though they have given out all their acceptances since accepted applicants sometimes drop out of the program or decide to go elsewhere for some reason.

I applied mid- October and took the OAT in December. To clarify, I was scheduled an interview through an e-mail, and I went to the interview. The interview was in mid-January. I never heard anything from the admissions committee after that. I found out through a student in the program that the class was filled. I also found out throught the student that only out of state applicants would be put on a wait list. I was flat out rejected but never notified.

If you weren't notified, how do you know that you were rejected and not placed on a wait list? Why are you taking the information from a student as golden information? Contact the school yourself and take the matter into your own hands. This isn't a big game of telephone.

I fear my potential fellow students...

Btw, I'm a huge economics geek. I think decisions are made best when decision-makers are given the best information. Why not just tell us the name of the school? It'll also help us determine if you've experienced something that is the normal modus operandi with a school or whether it's just you.

Hi guys,

Oh, I think I found your first mistake. You applied to an unnamed school. How do you know it wasn't a trucking school?

I think you are getting your panties in a bunch over something a student told you. If you are concerned that you may have been rejected, call the school!

The reason why I did not state the name of the school is that I plan on reapplying next year and I do not want to do anything jeopardize my chances of getting in, (i.e. complaining about their lack of communication) in case someone from that school is reading the boards. I believe the reason why they have not communicated with me is because I applied so late in the application season. The school I applied to is very small.
The student within the program, someone I am very close with, specifically asked a member of the admissions committee about me by name. The reason that I posted my initial post was that I felt frustrated and embittered with the amount of effort that I put into my application and the fact that I was not even sent a rejection letter. Considering that all my plans were hinging upon my acceptance or rejection to optometry school, it would be nice to at least receive a letter.

I had a similar experience with a school. They have yet to contact me about anything, and I contacted them as well, however they told me they would get back to me in January, and it's now March. I've basically given up on the school and feel that they could have at least had the courtesy to send me some sort of response. I don't know if it's the same school but it could match the school I applied to, SUNY.

If you weren't accepted into SUNY, they most likely put you under "undecided" and will decide later. The only way you can get a straight answer out of them is to call =(
