Early this morning, I received an interview invite from RWJMS, and they offered me 3 potential dates: December 15th, January 12th, and January 16th. It made the most sense for me to earliest date possible (i.e. December 15th), but when I selected the date after waking up, a short few hours after receiving the email, I was notified from the admissions office that the interview date was already full. Completely surprised, I told them to sign me up for the January 12th date, BUT I requested them to notify me if someone from the December 15th date drops out. They said with most certainty they will. So I am a little concerned regarding my current date. For one thing, it is about 2 months away and in January, which from what I heard, is kinda late in the application cycle. I feel my chances will be smaller if I interview past 2017. The second point, RWJMS does not do rolling admissions. They only inform applicants twice during the process: once at the end of December or Mid-March. With my current interview being in January, I won't hear back until Mid-March, which would be a long and stressful wait.
Again, I requested them to notify me if someone from the December 15th date drops out, but anyone who have experiences or knowledge of moving up an interview date, how likely or possible would it be for someone to drop out of the December date and me moving up my interview date? Moreover, knowing that admissions office will be busy, how often should I reach out to them if they have any updates or should I avoid reaching out entirely? I was thinking at the end of the month (15 days from now) and one final reach out around December 8-9. Any advice or opinions would be appreciated!
